Today they are still one of the leaders in affordable computer audio such as headsets, microphones, and of course … PC speakers! How does the Cyber Acoustics CA-5402 hold up? Do you really only get what you pay for or does this sleek looking system outperform its $60 pricetag?
All the parts are definitely there: convenient desktop control pod with on/off, main volume, bass volume, and input and output jacks. Of course the speakers themselves are of average to above average quality. Even includes an MP3 cradle. Also features an acoustically balanced wood cabinet subwoofer, treating you to a bold, rich sound for your multimedia.
The Cyber Acoustics CA-5402 Platinum Series High Performance 5.1 Speaker System is easy to setup, no complicated directions, placements, or wires. Having the volume control right next to the keyboard is nice too. It was easy to install with clear and easy to understand instructions. And the bass of course will beat any 2.0 PC Speakers system and the surround sound will beat a 2.1 PC Speakers system.
What do we not like?
Well, Cyber Acoustics didn’t think to include extra wire for when you’re hooking up your rear surround speakers. Also there are reports of mispackaging and miswired units, though the customer service is very good. The construction itself is a bit light. When you hold the speakers they do not seem that durable.
Overall:
This is an above average speaker set, at a very low cost. Definitely outperforms the cost. And if you’ve never experienced a surround sound system before, once you go 5.1 PC Speakers, you won’t want to go back. A fantastic entry level product into 5.1 speaker systems at a very low risk/low cost – and you will probably end up loving these speakers for a long time.
